Kate and Ray are two art lovers, so what better venue to get married at than the incredible DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. When they reached out to me to photograph their stunning New England wedding, I was ecstatic and couldn’t stop thinking of all of the amazing photos we could capture at their unique venue! They were married on a sunny day in August in 2023 (a rare occasion as it seemed every Saturday that summer it rained!) They kept each portion of their day as intentional and as thoughtfully designed as possible. They kept it minimal in their getting ready space to reduce stress – 10/10 recommend only having a few people with you when getting ready.

Once Kate and Ray were ready, they had a gorgeous first look out on the terrace. It was so sweet to watch these two see one another for the first time on their wedding day. We then explored the amazing sculptures across the grounds of the park for some portraits. One of my favorite sculptures was the ‘Best of All Possible Worlds’ by artist Saul Melman which features translucent doors carefully arranged. It was so easy to feel inspired to create stunning portraits for these two since we were surrounded by amazing artwork!

The clouds rolled in for a perfect overcast setting for their heart warming ceremony and guests soon made their way to the indoor gallery for the cocktail hour. The immensely talented PK and Mighty Seven Band played music to create an amazing ambiance – it felt like guests were at a gallery showing for an art museum and not just at a wedding. It created such an amazing experience for all!

To wrap up the evening, Kate and Ray hosted their reception under a gorgeous sailcloth tent where the music continued to pump up the crowd and delicious food was served by Fireside Catering. Having a live band as entertainment for a wedding instead of a DJ really can hype up a dance floor and I highly recommend it if you want to have all of your guests up and dancing! I cannot thank Kate and Ray for trusting in me to be their wedding photographer – from our first meeting to finally getting to celebrate their marriage these two made me feel like I was welcomed into their lives as a friend, not just another vendor.
